Modern refresh with a retro twist
This forever home was in need of a modern update that reflected not only the owners’ needs but also their style and personality. Designed by Matt Hull from DesignPad Architecture, the project had to maintain the existing structure and front of the house while meeting the owners’ unique vision through major internal renovations.
To start, the interior was opened up with a new living and dining area, creating beautiful yet practical spaces that enhanced the flow of the entire home. The addition of a servery window opening into the backyard also helped to enhance the connection to outdoor spaces. It added a unique flair to the home and was a perfect addition to elevate hosting capabilities, making it easier to embrace the joys of summer.
Colour and personal style were integral to this renovation. With carefully curated Italian tiles, splashes of bright, captivating colour were naturally implemented throughout the home. This added a retro look to the space, ensuring it has an interesting and entirely unique appearance. Timber flooring was also updated, replacing the old with fresh, high-quality materials that seamlessly transitioned to the Italian tiles of the kitchen. Along with underfloor heating designed to reach up the walls and warm towels, these updates ensure the home remains cool in the summer and cosy and warm throughout winter. Louvre windows throughout also enhanced control over natural ventilation and light. This modern touch perfectly complements the original timber sash windows, embracing a classical appearance.
